Reopening Stores

The Salvation Army will soon be reopening its thrift stores in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin with new safety guidelines in place.

We are beyond excited to announce that we will soon be reopening our Family Stores in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin region.

As state and local county restrictions loosen up, we will be able to start operations in our thrift stores with proper safety guidelines in place. We take the safety of all our employees and customers very seriously and will be following CDC recommendations to operate as safely as possible. All of our employees will be provided PPE such as masks and will be required to wear them while at our facility. However, we will not require shoppers to wear masks but we highly encourage them to do so. Along with PPE, our employees will also be deep cleaning the stores on a daily basis and we will have directional arrows and six-foot separators placed throughout the store. Other safety measures include hand sanitizer by the doors (or registers), clear sneeze guards at each register, and closing our fittings rooms. We will also be open from 8am-10am every Saturday to provide 2 hours of safe shopping to our most vulnerable customers.

For our initial reopening phase, our stores will be operating under limited hours from 10 am until 6 pm, Monday through Saturday.
(This includes our stores in Rockford, Loves Park, Cherry Valley, Belvidere, DeKalb, Peru, Beloit, and Janesville.)

This also means we will be able to start accepting bigger donations at our stores as a donation attendant will be on duty during store hours. Every item that is donated to us will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. We would also like to take this time to thank all of our generous donors who have been donating during such hard and uncertain times. We wouldn't be able to help the community if it wasn't for their continuous support. At the moment of this writing, we are only accepting donations at four of our locations: Cherry Valley, Belvidere, Beloit, and DeKalb from 10 am to 6 pm.

Remember, every purchase at one of our stores directly helps fund our Adult Rehabilitation Center and is the only income we receive as we are not state-funded. Thank you!

[We will keep updating this post as things are constantly evolving with regulations, guidelines, and safety measures.]
